I love the sort of Streisand Effect at work here. Instead of just letting the books be there, they make a big deal about banning them so an active mind will ask "Why? Why ban that particular book?" and then will spend extra time finding a copy of it.
This was pretty much how I ended up reading "The Protocols" back in the day. Kept hearing it was a terrible book, a lie. How intriguing! Finding a copy was a little difficult but I managed it and read it. I didn't care one whit about the Jewish aspect because I could see that it was way beyond that.
Corrupting the peoples of the world, owning both sides of any government - I could already see that stuff happening with my own eyes. I was just kind of astonished that it had ever been written down so that anyone could read it.
That's how I ended up on R/The_Donald. There was an ask reddit post that read something like, "What is a subreddit you wish was banned?" Glad they steered me towards this cult.

In Trump’s voice: “We have the best and most supportive cults!”
We’re so cultish we ask everyone to think for themselves.
