Back in the early 90s, I read a quote that said that if bankers had their way, all our earned money would go directly to the bank (these were the days before direct deposit) and the banks would give us an "allowance" each week.
Besides the fact that their plan seems to be moving along nicely, I'm sure we can all find something to love about unelected bankers acting as Mommy and Daddy, telling us how much we can have of our own money and what we can spend it on...if they even allow us access to it at all (see: Canadian Truckers' Convoy, etc).
