This is what tears me up. My husband served in a special ops capacity. He believed it was right. And quickly, he found out the things they had us doing were morally and ethically wrong, and only served ppl in suits looking to make money. Later on as the kids got older, they would ask him to come and stand up with the other veterans at their school vets day ceremonies. He absolutely refused. He felt betrayed and used. Nobody should have to feel that way based on a bunch of lies. It's heartbreaking as hell.
I feel that way also. However, I want to honor the people who served because most of them--like everyone else--were fooled into thinking that they were defending our country. History shows us that this is not true. I am grateful for the men who put others first and are the protectors that they were meant to be. When these servicemen realize the truth, the betrayal that they must feel could be devastating. I am beginning to understand that we heal when we encounter God and learn how to put those wounds in His hands. He loves us and He loves to heal.
Sounds like he's lucky to have you as a wife! I love seeing comments that indicate there are married couples with their eyes open and their minds engaged.
I appreciate that. It's alot to keep in. Weighs on a person. Ptsd, paranoia, antisocial stuff, just knowing the world you're walking into is so darn ignorant. He wanted a cabin in the woods so badly after all that...I wish we'd done it now. Now he's had ten strokes and alot of amnesia. I'm afraid to ask if he remembers about the military stuff and I probably never will. Sometimes dementia / amnesia I think can be a blessing in disguise. But he still tears up every time any patriotic song comes on the radio.
Okay, after reading your reply I'm adding an exclamation mark to my earlier comment.
same. Lots of guys like him, tho. I wish them all the best. Hope they can all find a way to heal from these atrocities.
America will learn the truth about 9/11 (and wtc 7) soon and never again will an american child die for lies and business men.
My father was so disheartened by his service that he forbid me from enlisting.
Yeah that's what happened with my husband...he STRONGLY discouraged them. There were 3 of 8 (yes 8 kids) who wanted to...those were some long conversations.
