House members cast a second round of ballots for Speaker on Wednesday, but House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) fared no better, in fact losing support from the first vote on Tuesday.
The final Speaker vote was 199 for Jordan, 212 for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and 22 for someone else.
But speaking after the vote, Jordan was undeterred in his work to reach 217 votes and flip holdouts. “We picked up some today, a couple dropped off, but they voted for me before. I think they can come back again. So we’ll keep talking to members. Keep working on it,” he said.
It is unclear if there will be another vote on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the push to expand the power of McHenry is heating up as the fractured GOP conference struggles to see a way forward.

They want the Status Quo the uni-party has worked so hard to establish.
We do not have two parties as we are told. We have one big uni-party.
All the RINOs are out in the open.
This.
Look at the state of the world. It looks like Biden just put us in WW3. We have Taliban walking open in American streets. We have an open border that is out of control. Crime and depravity is increasing.
All of it a smokescreen, to keep the uni-party alive. To keep the warmongers paid.
Trump gave us 4 years of relative peace. Peace is bad for business. Jim Jordan leads us to another Trump presidency, and they can't have that.
