Three quarters of those housed in California jails are awaiting trial. Over 1300 of them have been waiting for over three years. Over 300 have been waiting for more than five years.
This is not new (while this is certainly VP Harris' legacy, she just continued shit), and its certainly not confined to the partial amount of Californian counties that comprise the data set. A man named Hartfeld or something spent 30+ years without a trial, maybe in Texas. This is one of the big things prison reformers agitate over that rarely hits the mainstream.
