Donald Trump refused to take down a post attacking the law clerk of the judge overseeing his bank fraud trial in New York—blatantly violating the court’s gag order—and lawyers on both sides have just been notified that hell is nigh.
The New York Attorney General’s Office and the former president’s defense lawyers were told late Thursday that the issue will come up Friday morning in court, according to a source with knowledge of those discussions.
Trump put up a post on Truth Social. And it also went up on this campaign website. It was taken down on Truth Social, but it was never taken down on his campaign website.
Judge Engoron threatens Donald Trump with PRISON for violating his gag order. Trump didn't remove the Truth Social post berating Engoron's staff from his campaign website.
He just opened court with this:
I wonder what SCOTUS will say about a judge that is trying to stifle a Presidential campaign's 1st amendment rights? I would think that would be easy to prove blatant election interference. It looks like Trump and the WHs are pushing this hard to get the case to SCOTUS and put an end to all of this crap.
Gag orders are constitutional. SCOTUS has already ruled on these several times, but they have to be tailored to the case and not violate other general 1st amendment rights.
This gag order is very specific and doesn't have anything to do with politics.
the entire fiasco is about politics.
Ok handshake.
