We "owe" the debt to bond holders. It's pretty simple. It's not some magic dark pool of money that can't be understood. It's literally just treasury securities. Anyone can buy them. You go to the fed, and you buy them. You exchange them later for slightly more money than what you paid. It's literally just a coupon.
And yes.. you can just end the debt, it's as simple as not selling securities anymore. You just stop, and then once you've paid all the bonds out, you're done. The debt that everyone whines about just disappears. You can straight up get out of it in 5 years without any issue whatsoever.
The financial system serves an actual function. It's just currently monopolized for the purposes of aiding the deep state in suborning corruption and not for serving this country and it's citizens.
