Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Anyone understand the daily percentages on supplements and especially multivitamins? For example I'll list daily value percentages below for Pure Encapsulations O.N.E. Multivitamin. This is considered a higher rated company and choose this example at random. Seems like daily value % are way different on multiple brands. I know you pee out what the body doesn't need but keeping my big pharma rant from yesterday gen chat I can't help but wonder if daily value % is just BS. I don't normally take a multi but tired of multiple bottles and pills. It's not about the money but more about simplicity. Final thought: these percentages change drastically between brands and the vitamin ingredients (or source like plant based etc. Take note of B12 percentage. I know eating balanced diet might help eliminate the need for many supplements. Keep in mind the foods produced today (at home and especially mass market produce and meats don't have the same nutrients they might have had a hundred years ago. Of course the percentages are based on government standards and is probably from the 70s or before. About ten years ago I read to get the nutrition from an apple fifty years ago you'd have to eat four apples. Soil depletion is a huge factor as well as toxins. Lastly this is probably why I never buy a multivitamin it's so inconsistent and I feel like I'm wasting money.

The thing to remember is that we do not absorb the entire percent that is listed on the vitamins, so, water solubles will just get peed out if you over do. Quercitin for instance, needs Biotin, but even then your gut does not absorb the amount on the label. Some need to be taken on an empty stomach, some need to be taken with fats, it is a puzzle. For instance, NAC needs to be taken on an empty, without other supplements, but so does ALpha Lipoic Aid and L Carnitine , which is taken together. I begin morning with NAC, and then wait an hour for the Alpha Lipoic and L Carnitine. And I confess, due to this timing and eating, I sometimes miss the ALpha Lipoic and L Carnitine. Doc put me on these for the brain fog and nervous system healing. Good probiotics and digestive enzymes will help with absorption.
I'm not questioning you, what's your source? I'm trying to find a good reliable source online or book that gives details like you mentioned. When to take, with food and supplements that help each other.
Also what's your source for L Carnitine? In 2015 I took GNC brand for several months. It's the only thing that helped weight loss and I was getting up early. I've tried a few different brands and I'm not getting the same results. It might be the difference in brands or just my body is different.
I get all my stuff now from Life Extension. I don't know of any one book, I just search for whatever it is my doc has mentioned, or the other suppplements that Life Extension has in their catalog, and piece all the info together. if the bottle says, take on an empty stomach, I look up why.
Re: I get all my stuff now from Life Extension
Thanks for the info, I've been busy and just replying.
