The statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia, was melted down in a secret ceremony and will become a new piece of public artwork.

This is sad, on so many levels. Could we ever recover or rebuild such a thing. No I don't think so. Will the people even try. WHY was this done.
