We have about 400 American citizens and their family members, so it's roughly 1,000 people who are stuck in Gaza and want to get out.

So what the Whitehouse is saying is that half of all Americans have been taken hostage. Are they really taking hostages to this extant over there?

Personally I think the latter, like you said, they're trying to find the right spark to ignite us into the war
