Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
could I get some prayers for my dysphagia? its getting worse. i feel so retarded. can hardly eat without coughing, and half my food still ends up in my lungs.
dysphagia = bad eating = i've somehow forgotten how to swallow. apparently its a thing that happens.
Holy Father, hold your all powerful hands over this person, ease their throat and neck, open it to receive nourishment from all you have created for us to receive. Quiet their cough, protect their lungs, heal them Father, in Jesus' name. Amen
15th dimension, very cold drinks help, of course I am sure you know that texture matters, foods should be thick, like mashed potatos, thin liquids are not too good, frozen fruit in a blender is very good for ice cold drinks. There is something called "Thick It' that you can add to the slushie, not too much because it can change the taste, but it can thicken it for easier swallowing. Soups with a little added instant potato will also thicken. On a spiritual level for healing, no yelling, we want the air that goes in and out of us to be of the Holy Spirit, speak in out loud prayer when you have the space to do that, use your voice to speak love and wonder at Gods gifts, sing uplifting songs. If by some chance there is any acupunture or cranial sacral therapy it can help. I have cared for 3 people in my home over the past 27 years, all have had this issue, it is a hard challenge, but with careful attention to what I fed them, healing touch, and them taking anti histamines to control inflammation from histamines, (which produce extra mucus), not one of them has aspirated. All healing and reduction of symptoms must be done in a practical and a spiritual way, simultaneously. God Bless you.
great stuff, thank you. i don't really think about any of this, and haven't noticed which foods are better or worse.
i also need to remember how to pray. i've done so very successfully in the past. even though i wasn't raised Christian, and only came to believe in the Bible later in life. actually i was very anti-religion and especially anti-Christian. ....but I'm happy to say that was a long time ago now.
I'm open to acupuncture and whatever else you said. i'll look into it. and that's interesting to note about how we use our voice. I'm usually pretty quiet. sometimes i get mad and yell, but its pretty uncommon.
I play guitar but I don't sing enough. uplifting songs sounds good.
"Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine can cause a profound, yet reversible, dysphagia and may do so with little clinical evidence of diffuse myopathy."

Are you ancient? "Difficulty in taking solid medicines is a common issue particularly for the elderly because of a decline in swallowing function, also known as dysphagia."
