Isolated Wyoming Ranchers Want To Build One-Room Schoolhouse In Middle Of Nowhere
Parts of northern Albany County, Wyoming, are so remote it takes more than an hour to get to the nearest school — in good weather. Instead of an insane commute, a ranch family wants to build a one-room schoolhouse on their property.
They should have built their own and called it home schooling center and the school district would never have heard about it. A $300k cost for a one room building is classic example of government gone off the rails...
Totally agree… the effort to get the government to do it for them… their children will be grown before that happens.
Homeschooling their own children at those ages/ grades doesn't take long. Mom could get it done in the time than it takes to drive them to and from school. And, the kids wouldn't be taught using the gov't approved curriculum. Depending on how far away the other rancher families live from each other, they'd be better off meeting up at each others' kitchen tables. Either the families shouldn't have to contribute to school taxes (taxation without representation) or should be given an allotment for homeschool materials.
May God bless these ranchers with the money to build the school and with many God fearing families to come together to teach the children at this school.
build it and they will come!!
post it on givesendgo and put the link on every 'little house on the prairie' fan site.. done.
They initially had help from the school this was a good idea everybody was in on it but the school came back and said it's just not feasible for a $300,000 budget so it was pulled and now they're trying to appeal it and get it built for the rural kids of their community...
Thanks for sharing this. I grew up on a ranch in Wyoming and went to a 2 room schoolhouse in Centennial. I’d not heard of this Cowboy State Daily News… fun to read.
One room school houses used to teach reading writing arithmetic and even Latin.
.......taught to the tune of a hickory stick.
This is the Amish way.
