Seeking advice - Nurse gave infant adult vaccine.
🧐 Research Wanted 🤔
My wife took our child in for a 1 month appointment. They asked my wife if she wanted to give the child the RSV antinbody shot and she agreed. Later that day the doctor called and said the nurse mistakenly gave a full dose of the adult RSV vaccine. I don't what to do. Im tracking down what brand they gave and what lot number, ill update asap.

I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice, but it appears this drug is typically given to pregnant women (allegedly) so that their newborn will be protected from respiratory issues for the first several months of life. That said, there doesn't appear to be many side-effects listed for the mother outside of the initial jab other than potential fatigue, headache and pain at the injection site and a possible allergic reaction (including severe) which would happen shortly after the injection.
Definitely speak to the doctor again and/or a hospital physician and/or poison control as some anons have suggested. Assuming your child has not had an allergic reaction I'd assume that would be a good sign. Again though, I'm not a doctor so I have no medical knowledge whatsoever of the risk factors associated with this mistake. A baby, pre-birth would have gotten the dose in the shared bloodstream with their mother during pregnancy. In your child's case, they got an adult-sized dose directly.
I'll pray for your child as well as you and your wife that this won't cause any ill effects whatsoever and that your child will be blessed with robust health. 🙏✝️
