Interesting…. A few days ago, Steve Scalise Introduced Mike Johnson as the 45th Speaker of the House..
But Mike Johnson is the 56th House speaker, elected to the 118th congress..
45th does not sound like 56th.
1876 was the 44th house speaker..
Did Steve make a mistake? Or something else?

This theory keeps going around but the whole thing is based on a misreading of the list of Speakers. Kerr was the Speaker during the 44th Congress but was only the 28th Speaker. SOTH often stay through multiple Congresses or come and go multiple times. The actual 44th speaker from everything I can see is John McCormack who was SOTH for a number of years through the 60s and 70s.
Now I'm not saying there isn't some other meaning behind the choice to call him the 45th speaker but this theory just doesn't line up with the dates. Could be as simple as the number 45 confirming that he is Trump's approved pick for SOTH.
