Know what's rated first around here? Homeschooling. Get off your ass and take responsibility for what goes into your kid's brain. Yeah, you may have to function on one paycheck, yeah, books aren't free and you'll have actually research curriculum. But your kids will be better off for it.
Might have to add Arkansas to the roster of states my wife and I are looking at moving too. So far the list is Idaho, Montana, Utah, Tennessee and North Carolina.
it's hot and humid all the time in most of the state. The only break you get is if you live in the northern part of the state, it is sometimes bearable from december through march.
if I'm to infer from your username that you're in the Pacific Northwest, the northwest corner of the state will be more to your liking ... hills, hiking, biking, outdoor pursuits, and a decent economy. The rest of the state outside the ozarks is economically depressed and there's a ton of poor blacks. cost of living is super cheap in that part of the state, but it comes with a price.
Incroporate a Native American style homeschooling - boys learn to hunt, fish, fight, ride, build, protec, girls learn to plant crops, medicines, make fabrics, make wares - incl. electronics, the stuff you see China selling on Amazon.

Now that is great to hear. I know many people especially in our church even back in WA who homeschooled.
Classical Conversations ftw

What’s the weather like in Arkansas? Is it humid?

Very hot and humid in the summer. It's close to TX though.
Can we think of any other words to use besides "safe" and "effective?" Those two give me a touch of the PTSD...
Howls.
Oregon coming in at 51?
You got it.

Wonderful. Need to teach them some math too so they know how to pay taxes. LOL
