A solar flare will affect all electronics that are connected to the grid, cables, or antenna wires. It's a lower frequency signal than nuclear EMP.

Only if they are connected to long wires, such as electric lines, TV cable, or long antennas. Nuclear EMP will affect even isolated electronics unless they are in a Faraday cage. I have my smaller extra equipment wrapped in layers of alternating plastic and aluminum foil.
