In this particular case, the quakes are tectonic; between tectonic plates, and also they are caused by magma just beneath the surface, some being as shallow as 1/2 mile and now occurring beneath the town of Grindavik. The entire scenario seems quite dangerous for the Blue Lagoon and the aforementioned village.

Yup, I came here to say just that. In fact, volcanic and tectonic activities are picking up all across the globe. The Pacific "ring of fire" has been particularly active lately, and on the west side of my home state (Tennessee) the New Madrid Fault is showing activity.
Back in 1811-12 the New Madrid Fault had a major series of earthquakes that, if it happened today with greater population density and high-rise buildings, would be catastrophic, from New Orleans to Chicago and all cities along the banks of the Mississippi River. I would NOT want to be on any bridge crossing the Mississippi when that day comes.
It appears that the New Madrid Fault (gleaned from geological data collected in the past 60 years or so) has a periodicity of roughly 200 years, give or take. So it's now 215 or so years since the last event, and people living near that fault should take precautions.
The federal government and military have conducted many response drills for this inevitable and horrific event. God help us.
If the New Madrid Fault does let loose again, I'm sure I will be able to feel it all the way here in the mountains of east Tennessee. The shock from the epicenter always diminishes the farther you get from it, so at about 400 miles away, I hope it doesn't wreck too much of the local infrastructure and houses.
