So how do we know which 'scientist's science' might be true?
Since their argument is only the scientists know about the science because it is far to complex for us ordinary mortals to understand! This is the problem we face today, particularly when so many expensive/wrong/bad decisions are based on so called 'settled science'.
The term 'scientist' is far to widely used, and the reality is in their community there is specialisms and arguments within specialisms.

Not wanting to be ungentle, but I think you are (perhaps understandably) very focused on (them), as if (they) are everything and all. Which is of course the image and mindset they wish to present, but its just not true. (IMO).

Well, this is the point. If you review, look in to and understand the actual science, then what is true becomes clear. But if you are purely relying on what you are being told by 'authority', well, that's a problem.
In such cases, a healthy skepticism is both warranted AND useful. We are quite right to be skeptical, and actually suspicious, of the Establishment - the milieu of government - corporations - institutions - media that dominate so much of our world in the present time. And more and more of the falseness of their image and regime is being exposed and understood by more and more people. The Covid attempt woke up SO many people to the reality of the situation.
We're in a painful process. Waking up from a trance and matrix dream is painful. But that process is underway. A long way to go, but we are already miles and miles ahead of where we were 5 or 7 years ago.

You are reiterating my main points again and again. There is spin, and there is actual science. Just because someone says "this is science!" doesn't make it so, right? Obviously.

Well, I prefer the idea that Bannon on the Warroom was talking about a year or two ago, during this pandemic scam. They would draw the distinction between science (which is a discipline and approach that properly acknowledges its limitations and automatically seeks to test its ideas and disprove or prove them, without prejudice) and "scientism', which is a pseudo-religion, in which 'authority' determines what is 'true', where 'the consensus' (fabricated or not) is evidence of what is supposedly true and acceptable (whereas in fact in science, the truth is never decided by consensus, but by data and facts), and where "trust the science" is a mantra to get the sleeping masses to walk along in a trance and accept the malignant control of the govt/corp/institutional/media dictatorship.
To me, this distinction is really important. Already knowing that the scandemic was super dodgy when it began, because of the Q operation and also already primed, as an anon, to seek out alternative and often maligned sources of information, I tuned in to many of the related topics where the actual science flat out contradicted the Scientism.
Masks are just one example. Study after study and decades of experience by professionals showed very clearly that the use of masks did nothing and were in fact detrimental with relation to everyday use re: whatever Covid was. Facts, evidence, reinforced over multiple instances. But all of that was pushed aside by the propaganda media machine and the slave governments.
In the absence of understanding actual science, healthy skepticism and suspicion of those 'authorities' is the correct way to go, I would say. But throwing out science because of Scientism is a baby with the bathwater situation, imo.
Regardless, the above is simply my view and thoughts, shared in the interest of articulating the ideas, but if we disagree, I'm certainly OK with that.
However, I can barely imagine the heartache and difficulty you and your family have suffered (and are probably suffering) at the hands of the evil that has ruled so much of that govt/corp/institution/media complex. I hope you have support resources in terms of community, faith and love to assist you in this course.
