Popular Heartworm medication (don't recall the brand; we don't have a dog anymore) contains Ivermectin.

Heartguard - I believe ivermectin is the active ingredient.

Can also dose with horse paste though you'd have to lookup the dosage. It's a standard deworming protocol.

I noticed a while back the vets did go to Ivermectin.
