California is misunderstood.
If you had a conversation with the average Californian you would find the majority of them have more Conservative values. The looney left tends to be very loud and extreme so it gives the illusion that there are more of them than there really are. Considering how much of California is made up of Hispanic Catholics the over-the-top liberalism (BLM, gay stuff, communism, Satanism, etc.) really isn't tolerated by the masses. It never was.
The real problem is that people really don't have any personal interest in politics. They don't understand the difference between left wing and right wing. It's complicated and boring to them. The majority of voting-age Californians couldn't tell you who the Vice President of the US is. Not just today but anytime. They saw Mike Pence and thought he was the guy on the dime.
What they do know and love is pop-culture. TV, Movies, music. The ones who actually are registered to vote (and are likely only registered because some liberal family member made them register or they got the voter registration form in their welfare recertification packet) vote for whoever their favorite celebrity told them to vote for. It's as simple as that. Oh, yeah...and the college minions who are well versed in their assigned opinions. They are a big part of it.
While this video is good news this is even better news: In 2016 Trump got 270 electoral votes before California was even counted. Florida was way more important than California. This video mentions Florida going red. That's the great part of this video.
