Wouldn't surprise me.
I like Carter.
You're all welcome to download me until oblivion if you want, but I still like him.
IMO, he's one of a VERY short list of democrats that are worth a damn, and who actuality trustworthy and have a sense of honesty.
He's misguided at times (who isn't) but his heart is in the right place. He genuinely wants to do good things, and I think he's done more good than bad - which is more than I can say for other past presidents.
He was simply incompetent.
At so many things, absolutely yes. Like a good scotch he got better with time. Made a far superior ex-president than he ever did in the oval.
This is why I think the deepstate essentially left him alone. I'm convinced he wasn't one of theirs, but since his good intentions were doing much of their job for them, why rock the boat? Also, elites were pushing a different narrative in '77. Back then there were democrats that actually had a modicum or more of true patriotism (again, even if misguided). Carter democrats and the old Reagan democrats are a far cry from the screaming-pink-hairs and self-styled victims we're inundated with now.
Consider our current potato: it's more than incompetence. More than insanity. With Biden, it's intentional.
Wonder if those old democrats would have been republicans
if they knew where their party was headed.
I think some of them realized and switched teams, while others held their noses and clung to the club due to how much time, money and effort they had invested. Sunk cost fallacy at its finest.
I don't doubt that one bit, but I've also realized that competence isn't exactly required to be a puppet with a gun held to your head.
He was involved with Habitat for Humanity for a long time. Not for publicity reasons but for good. That’s not something Hillary would’ve ever done. I still think he was a lousy President and I’m not a fan of any Democrat.
+1 for Habitat, this is a worthy program. A hand up, not a hand out.
I always liked him too. Habitat for Humanity is a wonderful organization.
Did you live through the 70's?
Unfortunately. Still have the scars but not the hair...
Grain embargo essentially destroyed the US Agricultural market, permanently. Domestic prices for Wheat, corn and grains plummeted, international prices soured. Places like Chile bought as much as they could and sold to Russia at inflated prices. Then hired US Agricultural professors to come to Chile, Argentina and Brazil to teach them modern farming technologies. These professors were WELL PAID, so naturally they did this.
Now, the world leaders in Wheat production are Argentina, Brazil, Russia, India, U.S. and China. We used to dominate. and essentially fed the world. Carter gave us the highest inflation we ever had, gave away the Panama Canal, the worst unemployment and who still remembers the lines for gas or the US Hostages?
