The various misprision statutes are among the least used and it has long been my belief that they can be used to root out corruption in the various agencies at all levels of all of the branches. Catch one and indict those around him with felony misprision and see who rolls over on whom. Unfortunately, it’s going to take uncorrupted prosecutors with balls and like-minded judges. Both are in short supply these days. Runaway grand juries would help too.
“it’s going to take uncorrupted prosecutors with balls and like-minded judges”
That’s what we are, currently, sadly lacking.
Tribunals
military .
As a force for good or just another corrupt department of the executive branch.
And another thing, as sworn officers of the judicial branch, is it a violation of separation of powers or just an ethical violation to have lawyers serving in the legislature? In either case, they should be made to resign from the bar and their judicial commission before running for the legislature, if they want to resume practice afterwards, go through the process again, from taking the bar exam onwards.
