I know this is off topic, but we need some help. Our dog was just diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on his heart.
🧐 Research Wanted 🤔
We have fenben 222mg tabs. He is going to he 13 years old bit cancer should not be his demise. Should we just follow the Tippens protocol or would it be different for a dog? Prayers please. We already lost 2 dogs in two weeks a last year.🥺
Yes. I lost an English SHepherd this way, she seized silently, paralyzed. It was from a parasite topical that I put on her, I would say any collie breed, sheltie, aussie, border, english shepherd, mix, don't do it unless you can get a genetic panel done at the vets, through a blood draw. If they carry a certain gene, they cannot handle the ivermectin, the vet will know what to look for if you ask him/her.
OK. I just had my border collie in for his neuter and they did the heartworm test. They didn't recommend anything specific and honestly where we live they only need the meds May-Sept anyway (mosquito season)
same here, I get my sheppie tested, but don't do it, I live in the northeast, close to northern border, we sure do get mosquitos, but all the cases I've heard were from dogs south of here. I put repellent on her coat.
What do they then give the collies instead??
There is a product called Interceptor fo prevent heartworm, and for fleas I have always used Revolution. It's been around awhile and some vets want to use the newer products, but I use Revolution for all of the critters, dogs and cats.
