The problem is we (SC) have open primaries. The Dems vote for Flimsy in the primaries which knocks out any other republican who tries to primary him. The other problem, and the main one, is the 17th Amendment. It was the last nail in the coffin of States' Rights. Before the 17th Amendment the State legislature appointed senators. If said senator didn't tow the line the State legislature would fire him and appoint a new senator. Oh and the 17th Amendment was ratified in 1913. That year comes up a lot, it was also the year the Federal Reserve Act was passed and the year the 16th Amendment (income taxes) was ratified.
1913 does come up a lot. But interestingly enough the State of Wisconsin (where I reside) beat the Feds to income tax and imposed it within the state in 1911.

And the WW1 gave the USA a good excuse to borrow money from the Rothschilds, thereby forever indebting Americans to this criminal cartel
