Bruce Lee was a very wise man.
But this is not a Bruce Lee quote.
"I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me" is from Rorschach from Watchmen.
Best scene of Watchman. Rorschach was awesome in comic and movie.
Considering the era of Bruce Lee, were "victim" and "mentality" ever spoken adjacent to each other, anyway?
I believe that it was in one of Bruce Lee’s instructional books written in the 60s or 70s before Watchmen.
Alan Moore would certainly get inspiration from that (for writing, not for being a decent human being), but I doubt that's where it's from.
But I've been wrong before.
And just so I'm clear, the above is good advice. I don't think Bruce Lee said it.
The quote is among this collection. https://www.bing.com/search?q=bruce+lee+quotes&form=APIPA1&PC=APPD
You seriously just told me to Bing it?
Even Reddit can't find proof it was him. They too think it was Rorschach.
In fact, looking for the last six words of this meme brought me to...this exact GAW page.
I have to concur, I've read a couple of Bruce Lee's books, and it just doesn't sound like something he would have said.
First of all Rorschach is a fictional character in a movie written by 3 guys. David Gibbons, David Hayter, and Alex Tse. I would bet one of them would be familiar with Bruce Lee’s writings. Also, putting a quote in a search engine gets you the most recent usage in popular culture and rarely from an original source. I have already had this debate with other commentators over other quotes. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409459/
Movie? It's a COMIC BOOK from 1986!
Bruce Lee’s writings predate that by around 20 years. Kenny Rogers also used the concept in “Coward of the Country” before that date.
Great quote, I'll have remember it when I go to work each day, I'm not being forced to work, I'm forcing the work to comply to my will.
Kick ass
The Way of the Dragon is lo-key disclosure of how it is to deal with the Vatican and the US and how to operate in western society (in that era). Won't spoiler who the final boss turns out to be.
Fun fact: Filming the fight between him and Chuck Norris in the Colosseum in Rome was illegal and involved bribery and smuggling.
Yeah, but they always attack one at a time.
