Wife not old enough for Medicare.
First: Insurance is suffering from "shrinkage" just as much as potato chips. Not near as much in the bag.
Second: The way I see it, I can purchase an almost decent policy for my wife (worse coverage than in the past) OR.... I could make payments on a brand new, high-end Bentley (including insurance) for the same money.
I don't need a Bentley. Yet?
Being healthy, no insurance, is the best answer. Yet?
This is ridiculous. So much for retirement. Social Security doesn't even cover the cost of healthcare. Gees.
The more government money is thrown at "health care", the higher the costs go -- much like government student loan "help" raises the cost of tuition. More money being thrown at the same amount of goods raises the price of the goods.

Note that many of the "not new" drugs are off-patent, some are actually from the 1950s, and likely cost pennies per dose to produce.
