The church has been compromised with their non-profit tax status. Be careful who you talk to. I am so glad our pastors are our friends. It's the best thing that happened for us moving to small town in Midwest.
I remember seeing churches who stand up to the Covid lock-down and was punished. Then there's churches who didn't even dare to sign your religious exemption and there were tv churches who said to people, "If your church won't sign for you, send it to us and we will sign."
Those are the true leaders you want to watch.
One of the church who stood up to Garvin Newsom in CA. Based in San Diego. Another was in TX who said if you need to sign religious exemption, send to them.
Church will be the first stop people go to in a national communications blackout. People will need to know what is going on and gather where people do. There will come to a point the pastor won't know what to do, no matter how good a man they are, and the will reach out to some "united" church officiated organization. This is how they'll bring evil in. Example: if the church is methodist, the pastor will reach out to something like the United Methodist Coalition, or the Baptist reach out to Baptist For America, etc.
The origination with still use their symbols and be easy to spot.
Not saying your described scenario is wrong, however, there are SO many comprimised churches in mainline denominations across this country, that most of these clueless normies showing up at churches will have no idea that they're reaching out for help from false leaders peddling false doctrines.
My wife and I left the U.M. church almost a decade ago for the false teachings and wokeness that started to pervade the pulpit even then. I'm so glad that those pillars of church/community that I grew up with, and who mentored me, aren't alive today to see what "the church" has become.

There are some churches that don't even accept that for the very reason they don't want to be compromised.
