Keep at least one month's worth of expenses in cash.
Maintain accounts in at least two different banks with physical branches near you, ideally using different banking software.
Keep at least some of your wealth in non-currency sources of value such as gold or silver
Keep at least 6 months and ideally at least one year of food and water.
Have an alternate means of heating your house that does not depend on public utilities.
Have an alternate means of providing power to your home that does not depend on public utilities.
Buy an AR-15 if you can, at least 10 magazines, 1,000 rounds of ammo for it, and common repair parts (I like a complete replacement bolt carrier group at a minimum).
They have fixed the accuracy problem with thicker barrels. I've never had any reliability problems. Like all Rugers they run weather you clean them or not.
Practice self-reliance by doing the following:
40 round magazines
60 round Magpul drum magazines! I have one, they're not so great on load bearing equipment.
Those drums jam up
Mini-14 and you don't need any spare parts.
