L.A. County lays to rest 1,900 unclaimed remains in annual ceremony
The remains of more than 1,900 people were laid to rest Thursday during a ceremony in Los Angeles County. A tradition that has spanned more than 125 years, the yearly Ceremony of the Unclaimed Dead…
Take them off the voter roll!
Very sad. What a huge variance between this group service and the funerals for well known LA celebrities, right? But still, the city acknowledging these deaths seems like a step in the right direction.
They have to do the ceremony to free up space in the morgue.
Didn't think of that. That's a motivating reason. Thanks
So many lost souls, and this is just L.A. County alone.
1,900 in one year?!?
LA County has a higher population than 40 states. Its also home to the largest homeless population in the US.
That's still a lot of anonymous bodies!
Seems so.
When your county has a larger population than 40 states and home to the largest homeless population in the country, add in the "child free" types and pretty soon you'll have a large amount of people with no "next of kin" .
If these bodies are unclaimed then most of them were probably homeless.
Maybe these are the homeless people that disappeared in SanFran.
