This headline is somewhat misleading. This is about voting in the PRIMARY for presidential candidates. It says nothing about not being allowed to vote for president in the actual election. It is not uncommon for registered independents to not be able to vote in the primary. Some states only allow voting in the primary you are registered for and some allow a democrat to vote for the republican and vise versa. Nothing new, my state has been this way for 30 years at least. Not saying it is right or wrong, just not news.
in my state in dependants can't vote in the primary, and you must vote your party in the primary. The actual election is open, all REGISTERED votors with proper STATE ISSUED IDS may cast one vote for the candidates of their choice. My state seems to have very little election hanky panky goings on.
