Lincoln? I read that the land grab happened in 1864, when the insurrectionary tax happened, where the landowners had to pay up in person. Lee's wife (who had arthritis at the time) sent someone else to give payment, but they rejected the payment and stole the land anyway. Lincoln, if he is the right guy I'm inferring, is a total asshole.
