If Nicola Tesla discovered a way to harness unlimited energy for all humans, and if the mechanisms are small enough, then electric cars are going to be very viable. Maybe Musk has a long range plan. Batteries are the major stumbling block to reliable electric cars. No batteries problem solved.

If, as Tesla claimed, electricity could be transmitted through the air to power everyone, what's stopping me from shocking myself every time I touch something metal?
Because that happens way, way, way too often to me already.
Heh heh, quit scuffing your feet! When I was young I used to twist my neck and it would be painful to turn my head for a few days, for some reason that rarely happens now that I'm old. Maybe my movements are slower...
You'd think, but this keeps happening.
Door handles, car doors, shopping carts, anything ferrous.
I actually get shocked getting OUT of a car.
Dang! I had a static electricity shock probably a few months back, but it happens years apart for me.
It's why I can't join the hate for plastic. At least plastic doesn't zap me!
This is one of the very, very few things I can praise Target for. Their shopping carts are entirely plastic.
