here's my stance, all restaurants in a rest stop SHOULD be open daily.
BUT if they are forcing Chick-fil-A to stay open on Sundays, which is against their policy, then they should be able to remove their stores without having to pay to break their lease, and also be compensated for their construction costs.
Total agreement. Both sides are in the wrong here. Everyone, including NY bureaucrats know Chik-Fil-A is closed on Sundays. But, Chik-Fil-A knows full well travelers need rest area services seven days a week.
Did the demons in charge know that CFA was closed on Sundays when they issued the permits and licenses and stuff?
Did the state take taxes from them under that understanding?
"Demons" is a good description. CFA is closed on Sunday to honor the Sabbath. This is about much more than feeding travelers. The demons want them breaking a commandment. As it stands CFA is making a bold statement by closing on Sundays.
