Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

I know Elvis did a country album but I don't consider anything from him country. His voice is unlike anyone else dead or alive. Yeah I'm a fan girl and so is my ten month old granddaughter😁 You are right about today's country. There's a lot of good country artists but you have to search most aren't on the radio. I'll listen artist I like some are traditional country or (anmerican is the new term for classic country) others are what I call country rock. Some I list might be outspoken liberals. Some I wonder about but they don't preach their views. I've stop listening to many artists that are really bad, like Lady Gaga. It's a shame because I love her voice and music. Also Taylor Swift & Katy Perry is off my list. I know those aren't country but my love for 80s music makes me want upbeat music. As long as they aren't satanic and child lovers I listen to them. Most all types of artists are just weird or crazy, especially outside of music. I think it takes it be genius and make their art. So books and music I don't do a deep dive on their beliefs because music helps me emotionally and books are a great vacation escape with out the expense. Many won't agree but I have to do what works for me. For about seven years we went to concerts at least once a month and many times 3-4 times a month. Plandimic stopped it for us we were not wearing mask or vax. Now it's over double what we were paying. My family loves music.

Many great artists coming out of Texas & Kentucky. That's just the top ones I listen to. We have a family Spotify account. I listened to apx 300 different genres last year (didn't know that many existed).
Elvis is in a class all by himself. I love anything he sings. I can tolerate all kinds of music unless it gets vulgar or satanic sounding. I don’t doing any digging on artists but if I catch something about then I don’t agree with then I’m done. I’m not supporting them at all, but I don’t buy any music anyway. I’ve really tried to fill my thoughts with music that pull me into Jesus for such a time as this. I was raised on southern gospel, and I do enjoy praise and worship. Being a teenager in the 80’s, I will always believe that was the best musical era for good music.
Totally agree about Elvis. I remember watching him live from Hawaii. Also remember exactly what I was doing the day he died. A few years ago I did a deep dive into him. I’ve listened to every Memphis Mafia interview I can find. I know he wasn’t a saint but I’m a sucker for that kind of charisma. Very few people have it. Dale Earnhardt & Jimmy Buffet did for sure. Then I found videos from Vegas live 70-72, omg 😱 I do love 80s music but 70s rock, R&B & country are my favorite. Class of 85, 80s teenager also. Great chat!
I was actually in Tennessee the day Elvis died. My best friend, the preachers daughter, was going to Lee College in Cleveland. I think I was about 12 or 13, she was older than me, I was the youngest in our youth group, but anyway, I had gone with them to take her to begin her college journey. We had stopped at a restaurant to eat, and it came across the news. Broke my young heart.
Broke my heart also. He was something else.
