Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
If you feel lead please include me in your prayers as I start my new way of eating tomorrow, carnivore. I'm praying for God's guidance and my ability to see his guidance over my own head taking over and leading me astray. This isn't about if it's safe or the best choice of eating. It's what I feel may be the most beneficial for myself and if it's not for me I'll find a better plan. Although I have never felt this positive about giving up my cake, candy and carbs. Thanks
Will be praying for you. Just remember as you see all these changes in your body, keep notes and see what works best for you. You may decide to add vegetables back into your diet as time goes on. Also, make sure you don’t get scurvy.! Love you and praying for a successful outcome.
Thank you so much. I've got to research scurvy! I love some veggies so eventually I'll probably add them. I'm doing only meats eggs and animal fat because I believe I have to totally get away from all carbs. From my research most experts are saying avoid plants because of toxins. I understand that however I'm not giving up herbal tea and that's plants. Even animals that eat a grass fed diet are eating plants that most likely have toxins. At this point in time it's impossible to get away from toxins. They are in the ground, air, water, clothing, fabrics in the home and office. I appreciate the prayers and love, right back at ya❤️
Just remember to be flexible as you continue on this journey. Your idea of an all meat diet might seem right now, but just wait and see how your body adjust. And then make changes as necessary if any. Make sure you’re getting plenty of electrolytes. Also, organic vegetables, taste, so much better, and will provide roughage that you need to poop. I think it all carnivore diet may cause constipation, but I haven’t done any studying on it. 🤣😂

I take several supplements every day. I've always had severe constipation as an adult. Most likely from to many carbs and not enough leafy green vegetables as well as twenty years on RX constantly. Even with out the RX I tend to get constipation. Over the past two years my diet is the worst it's ever been. It's just a nasty cycle! You don't feel like cooking so you grab junk to fill you up. That continues to escalate because you feel horrible and the bad food is making it worse. I don't blame food alone it's a combination of chronic conditions in my body, not getting my mind to accept it. For the past year I have rarely been constipated and I believe it's from taking Moringa. If I stop taking it I'm in trouble again. Also Turmeric helps but I don't take it regularly because it does cause bowel flare ups.
I take a liver supplement daily and several other supplements. I can tell such a difference in my gut and hormones on the liver supplement.
I researched scurvy this link explains scurvy, vitamin C needs and the carnivore diet.

The following links are Dr Ken Berry. His story is interesting. He's a family doctor and after gaining weight became pre diabetic tried to lose weight on the "approved" us medical system diet. At that point he started to question everything he had been taught about nutrition. He went on the carnivore diet after researching keto, Adkins, etc. He had success and told his patients about it. These patients were scheduled for knee surgeries, weight surgeries etc. Several patients went on this diet and canceled surgeries. I know, it sounds to good to be true especially from one person selling their snake oil. I've watched multiple videos from doctors to ordinary people they keep referencing this Dr. The first two videos have some of the same information because they are interviews. They are the most informative I have found. He's calling out universities, medical studies, big pharma and food companies. Last link is his YouTube channel.

I have done KETO and low carb more than once. Its not fun, but it truly does work, both to lose weight, and to lower blood sugar. After a few days, you may grt KETO FLU, as your body gets used to not getting carbs and switches to ketones for fuel. Pickle juice, as gross as it sounds, will help you keep your electrolytes up, bulletproof coffee, will help you when your energy levels start to drop. ( this too seems gross, when you read the ingredients, but is VERY good, especially with a little cinnamon!) It take a few days to level out and find a new normal. Good luck with it!
I've heard of this coffee and told my husband about it. I don't drink coffee much it's ok I prefer herbal tea. The only coffee I love is Kona coffee from Hawaii. It's very expensive and I'm out. I discovered it in Hawaii and had it every morning with breakfast and that's totally out of character for me. I can drink that black with about teaspoon (or less) sugar. So far no keto flu. I probably wouldn't notice because I have fibromyalgia and already tired daily. That's one reason I'm trying to see if the multiple chronic conditions leave. Weight loss is the main goal. I'm doing ok on it and want to do for at least a month. Then add other foods to see if I have an intolerance. Eventually if no intolerance eat properly for weight loss. I can't imagine giving up fruit and vegetables for life.
