Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
FYI here's a general video on the history of the USCGC Glacier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgRR2w1RpmA.
Wow, one hop from Admiral Byrd! What an incredible ship.
Yes the famous Admiral Richard Byrd. Glacier served as his Flag ship before it was transferred to the Coast Guard.
Have you gone down the Operation Highjump rabbit hole? If not poke around a bit. Some crazy theories abound as to what the expedition was really about. It was advertised as being a scientific mission but most believe it was more than that. The Nazis had a huge presence on Antarctica before and during the war. They set up bases there. Admiral Bryd commanded a flotilla of 13 vessels - 1 being an aircraft carrier. I think there was a contingent of about 4-5000 Marines/Sailors. All for a scientific mission?
As far as Operation Highjump goes, I have read a bit about secret Nazi tech(vimanas) and underwater submarine "tunnels". What are they working with/defending over there? Why did those politicians and russian priest go to Antarctica? Why did Ken Griffen recently go? I secretly hope there is a friendly civilization or some more clean land beyond those borders so that we may enjoy a more fruitful finale to life. I am going to do a deeper dive on the Operation Highjump conspiracy but if you have any additional information to provide im open to any of it!
Sounds like you are doing your research. You can bet that there's more going on in Antarctica than we are being told. There seems to be evidence that points to the fact that the Nazis were experimenting with anti-gravity propulsion systems. And I'm sure you are award of the Antarctica Peace Treaty which forbids any unauthorized travel below the 60th parallel. One interesting fact is that after WWII there were over 100 nazi submarines unaccounted for. Sure some might be at the bottom of the ocean but where did the rest go. In regards to Highjump I actually bought a copy of National Geographic magazine (1947/8) edition that covers the Operation Highjump expedition.
