Right! As soon as I saw the price, I was out. I have a rabbit farm. Costs me $10 and 3 months to raise a rabbit. At butcher time, that gets me 2.5lbs of meat. $4/lb. Took us a year to set up, but this year we should be meat self sufficient. The same rabbit at the butcher (which is always sold as exotic fancy meat) is $15/lb. $35/lb for anything is absurd. Next year I'll hopefully be able to freeze dry said rabbit for a 10yr shelf life. Best thing about meat farming is most people raise one thing and get "food boredom" so we have plenty of other homesteaders that trade us 1:1 rabbit for pork and beef.
Never had freeze dried beef before - is it good?
It's a $105 for 3 pounds of beef, so I'll never find out.

That's the nice part about knowing your good neighbors and helping each other out.
Nice!
Being that is freeze dried, when you rehydrate it would probably be close to 9 pounds.
Ahhhhhhhhh, I hadn't considered that. I just got sticker shock and clicked the back button on my browser.
ouch
