The story of the "Dixie Mafia" is quite an old one. I recall hearing whispers of it way back in the 1970s as being made up of people who in the old days ran illegal moonshine rackets and began moving into smuggling and manufacturing drugs, prostitution, pornography, and murder for hire.
As a Tennessean I have never seen actual evidence that they exist, but I've known people who assured me that they did, and perhaps still do exist.
I loved the show “Justified” back in the day…now we have “Ozarks”. I view now these shows as predictive programming.
I’m pretty sure some form of Dixie Mafia exists.
Like MS13 etc we know they “exist” but can’t easily prove it. Even our deep state is shown in movies and shows but then denied.
Yeah, "Justified" was a fun show. It seemed to capture exactly the zeitgeist of the period AND of the geographical area of Harlan, KY. I grew up across the state line in Tennessee not all that far from Harlan, and the characters in that show could have stepped right out of the hills and hollows of that region.
The most thriving thing going in some of those places these days is meth and oxy. Drugs have ravaged an already ravaged area. I rarely go back there... there's just nothing for me there any longer.
This is old news. One of my 9th grade teachers worked and marched with king told this in class back in the 80s. "They wanted a martter they could control.
Same as Seth Rich then. Looks like these a**holes fail in everything they do - even assassinations.
Just look at what happened with Anne Heche
Absolutely.
Yes. Rinse, repeat.
I was thinking the same thing. A familiar story.

One of the commenters on the article identified the Dixie Mafia as being LBJ, and that would not surprise me at all.
Oh yeah, he was probably involved big time.

Why Jesse said he died in his arms and we know Jesse wouldn’t lie. Kek
