Eliminating the national debt would bring such freedom. However, major social change, too fast, can also create a lot of new problems. We've already seen how handouts and free money will destroy work ethic. Any major wealth redistribution going back to the people is a very delicate matter. I'd love to be refunded for all the income tax I have paid, and then retire, at 65. But for younger people, they need to have strong self discipline and not morph into laziness.

This is such an EASY fix. Fund the government with import & export tarriffs. Eliminate national debt completely. If Congress overspends ... take it out of their pockets.
