I want my reparations and I want it now! ☘️ Erin go bragh
Me too, Mom, Catholic from the north, came over in ‘65
Yes, you deserve reparations, just as much as the blacks do. You are the same. So, good luck.
The word KIDNAPPING originated after 1600 when approx 100 thousand mostly Irish children between 5 and 12 were stolen out of Ireland sent to America and sold as "indentured" servants. they were told if they lived to 21 they would be set free. 90 percent died before they reached 21. and that's just the Irish children, woman and men that were brought over would total close to the number of blacks who came to this country as slave. In 1619 there were already hundreds of Irish slaves in America.
that's interesting & would explain something I read recently; the Sioux sent help to Ireland during the famine/1800's. I see a lot of similarities between the Native American and Irish, will have to keep reading...
And just remembered... that's what Stormy Daniels is; native and Irish https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1317917/trivia/
You know when I went to Northern Ireland in the early 80’s, Mom is a Catholic from outside of Belfast, they loved the American Indians. They really felt as kindred spirits with them
thanks, appreciate the first hand accounts🐸 & I’ve heard the same things about the Germans, they visit the powwows at local reservations. Also a lot of Catholic influence on the native Americans, so maybe they are friends from way back, the lost tribes perhaps…another native & Catholic story; Father DeSmet was good friends with Sitting Bull & wanted him to convert to Catholicism, but Sitting Bull had issues with monogamy, didn’t want to give up his women so he refused;)
Chinese too
If we are honest, everyplace got a turn at slavery here. Slavery, bigotry, racism, over history people.from all.those backgrounds got used. Still happening.
me too^ I'm adopted, no idea I was part Irish until recently. fascinating to learn about the land & various groups; which they say are mythological, but starting to think they're real🧚🏻♀️ one of the coolest things was learning about Knowth, the large burial mound in Ireland, has 17 smaller cairns around it, and 17 minutes of light on the winter solstice.
It was because the Irish kept dying in the plantations down south, that they switched to blacks.
Just wait until you find out who taught the Jamaican blacks to speak English. Slave to Slave.
They werent taken care of like the blacks. Mostly children and women. Treated far worse kept in slavery longer indentured servants.. this Erin has not forgotten.
One of my gg grandpas came over as an indentured servant in mines, id like to read this, thanks for the share!
My Irish namesake ancestor was a indentured slave of an Englishman who refused to sell him to his uncle so the uncle stole him and his brother and sent them to America where they served with Washington at Valley Forge. I guess I'll have to ask the English for reparations.
WOW!
