Well I talked up the carnivore diet so much my husband joined. Actually I don’t think it was me I think it was a video I was watching. We know men usually loose weight quicker than women. The last time I asked it was 9 pounds and that was a few days ago. I think we started on 12/27 not sure and I’m terrible about documentation. I did keep up with my weight when I weighed. After 5 days I lost 4 pounds. Then gained 1.8 after few days. Just weighed and in total since 12/27 I’m down 2.8🤦🏻♀️ Hey, I’ll take the tiny win. I’m not the type to weigh myself very often. Maybe that’s one reason I’m in this mess. I’m not comparing myself to my husband. We may have several similarities but in the end we are two different people. He’s just a tad bit overweight but for a 56 year old man he can do physical labor that many twenty year olds can’t. I believe he’s stronger at this age than his twenties. All in all I’m glad we tried carnivore for a meat, potatoes and bread guy he’s doing amazing. After a few days he said his hands didn’t hurt at all (probably arthritis). As for me I did good the first few days. My sugar cravings were non existent. He wasn’t hungry hours after a meal and I was. I read it’s different for everyone, maybe because we have different eating habits, good or bad. Around day five I felt terrible. Thought maybe it’s a fibromyalgia flare, they are awful. But I haven’t had one in several years. After researching it was keto flu. There’s many explanations online. One explanation is your body fighting not having carbs, the addition. There’s many reasons that’s just one. My husband said my eyes looked like I was sick. After two days I was better and tried to get back on the wagon. After researching I believe me & carnivore aren’t going to make it. I’ve been researching keto
Honestly, I’m to the point of not knowing what to believe concerning what’s the best (real) foods to eat. There’s so much false information out there. Then you have the paid influencers and doctors. I know I’ve lost over fifty pounds on my own about ten years ago with out help from anyone. I know what to eat for results. Getting my mind right or getting to rock bottom was the only push I needed.
The best thing to come out of this is my hubby and I had honest conversations mainly about my sugar addiction. You can have the greatest relationship of all time and still not talk about the elephant in the room. This week I did cheat really bad one day. After that I threw out anything temping, including the M&Ms he told me to keep, I forgot. I normally don’t buy them. I was going to make my brother cookies and never did because I feel twice in December. Another positive (except for my cheat moment) we aren’t eating the crap junk they call food. I haven’t had any bread or flour of any kind. No nightly chocolate midnight snacks and in the night eating. I have fasted more in the past month than since I was in high school. In school I didn’t fast on purpose you just didn’t eat between meals because of class. Food wasn’t the center of your priority. Someone shared the local town’s New Year’s Eve ball drop and over half of the people were severely overweight including kids. Processed food is killing people then the doctors put them on medication instead of addressing the real problem. I’ve got a long road but I’m ready.
What’s been your experience loosing weight or not gaining? Any foods that you found helpful? I pretty much know what’s bad
Eat half. Over time weight falls off. I still eat, drink and that makes me merry.
Great tip!
Good for you! A long time ago there was something called The Atkins Diet, I found it helpful for carb addiction. Another diet I followed was called THe Carb addicts diet. It allowed one meal a day to contain carbs, in the form of fuits and starchy veggies, rice, oats, etc. No refined sugar. the meal had to be eaten in 1 hour. I felt great on both diets. During pregnancy and post pregnancy I had ballooned out due to hormonal changes, and also just pigging out on ice cream, a pint a night! I am short, so the fat really made it hard for me to be energetic enough to keep up with a very energetic little boy, so we are talking 30 years ago. My advice is to keep doin what your doing regarding sugar, if you do need some carbs, oatmeal and fruit is fine as long as you eat it with a protein, fruit with cheese, oatmeal with sugar free peanut butter and a tad of good honey or molasses. We do need some sugars, and veggies and fruits contain all you need. I find snacking on meat helps, bacon, cooked and roasted meats cut into bits with cheese, olives, kept on a plate in the fridge. Raw carrots. Withdrawl is real, so thinking about sugar as a drug you are getting clean from helps, with all addictions, it is one day at a time, ask for help from God in the morning and thank him at night, avoid triggers, because the food industry is trying to kill you with calories you do not need. Your taste buds will change with time, and one carrot or apple will taste as sweet as candy, and almost too much soon. Bless you on this journey, you are doing great!!!
Just keep up the good work and adjust as you see fit. You may end up just going keto, but there’s so many low-carb options. Now it’s ridiculous. Just cutting all that sugar and carbs out of your life is amazing, and so hard to do. I’m so proud of you. What a great job you’re doing. You and your husband. It’s awesome that you’re doing it together because it makes it so much easier.
Once I get home, my mom and I are going back to the low carb thing. We’re done with the holidays, and we’re getting back to our normal eating habits which we always feel more healthy.
