Canadian police warn that posting videos of alleged package thieves could be ‘violation' of their privacy
A provincial police officer, Lt. Benoit Richard warned Canadian citizens against posting video footage of alleged porch thefts, because it could violate the thieves' privacy.
That's what I got from it. Putting up a video of someone doing something illegal on your property is not the same as them being put on trial.
I have a suspicious mind and I've met a few interesting cops in my time. My first thought was that someone on the force is either stealing packages themselves, or they've set up some sort of ring of thieves and they're afraid that video evidence will lead back to them.
