Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
If you need a buddy send me a DM. I’ve been doing it since 12/27 I’ve lost 9 pounds that’s not counting what I gained and then lost. Watch YouTube videos they are very helpful. My husband is doing it and doesn’t struggle like I do. I’ve had sweet potato (with out sugar) & avocado & chocolate pie, only once. Cream cheese is helping when I have a sweet craving. If you are on Facebook there are probably good groups, always have to try several and keep just a few. There’s more crazy people there but a few good ones. You can always use a fake name if you don’t want to found by name. I believe the #1 key is eating eggs once a day and preparing your meat ahead of time. If I don’t have food I’m searching for bad. If you don’t have control with certain foods give it away or throw it out. I’m mostly carnivore and a little bit keto. Dr Ken Berry & Dr Caffee has good information. Also look at videos, what I ate in day carnivore. There’s recipes you can make to keep the boredom away. We are to the point we are full for at least 8 hours. Fasting and water is key! Make sure you are doing electrolytes. You can make your own or buy them. LMNT is popular but has natural flavors (you don’t know what’s in those). I’ve ordered Keto Chow shakes it’s not 100% carnivore but it has fat what you need. They are meal replacement. I only ordered a few to see if it I like it. Then will decide if I want to do them. I’m trying to be carnivore at least two months and add foods to see if I have allergies or inflammation. I didn’t know you can inflammation in the brain. I truly believe I’ve had it. Find a source for local farm raised eggs. They are healthier and cheaper. I’m buying four dozen at a time. Read about popping!!! Don’t want to discuss here, but you should know about it and be near a bathroom. Your body is detoxing all the bad foods. It’s easier today it was the first week.
Thank you for all the tips. I've watched some of Dr Cafee's videos and others as well. I also bought some LMNT for electrolytes. The grapefruit is our favorite flavor. It's definitely hard the first few days when still craving sugar or carbs. I'm hoping I'll be able to get through the first week without cheating, lol. I did this diet a year ago but after we went travelling and let loose a little, well you know how it goes lol Oh I don't think I want to know about popping! Last time I did it my skin became much smoother and got rid of lots of oxalates, is that what you meant?
If you are eating dairy cream cheese is good for sweet craving. I get a little pinch and I’m good. I’ve read about skin improvements, skin tags and other health conditions disappearing. My number one reason is weight loss if it cures the multiple chronic pain conditions that’s a bonus. Yes, I know how it is. I’m a good cook and grew up on biscuits, gravy, fried chicken and the most amazing cakes. I can cook just like my grandma, might not be great right now. I also like non country foods with spices. That is a struggle but worth it. I’ve read some people don’t go through the diarrhea phase. Maybe you want. It was less than two days for me. I think the excess poop is detox. I know about oxolates but not enough to confirm if it’s from that. Good to know ELMT taste good. I prefer plain water and I’m using electrolyte drops. I drink herbal tea and I’m not giving it up or herbal supplements. Guess I’m more dirty carnivore, I don’t really know. Just doing what works best for me. Considering making my own or Celtic salt.
Oh yeah I've been in the bathroom detoxing lol I heard cayenne pepper and sauerkraut is also good for digestion. By the way, I have cold cuts like pepperoni, salami, and some yellow American cheese for snacks if I'm still hungry. Do you think that's ok for keto/detox?
Make sure the cold cuts and ground beef don’t have added ingredients. I saw a post that aldi ground beef has natural ingredients & I’m thinking it’s either a filler or peservative. I’ve read most of the meat there is good, IDK haven’t been in a long while. Most cold cuts have sugar and dextrose double check ingredients. I always check food for toxins but never paid attention to cold cuts, bacon or sausage. I’m not experienced enough to answer question about what’s ok for keto detox. Search your question on YouTube and maybe you can find an answer. If I find something I will let you know.
