I agree it’s good idea but it’s not as easy as you say. Lots of time involved and money spent and you can lose your crop due to mold, pests and theft if outdoors. Growing isn’t for everyone, probably only good for a few at best.
I grew 12 plants last year in an urban environment outdoors. There was some powdery mildew, but it can be washed off, or let the rain remove it in the fall. Usually happens when the temp drops. I spent about 200 on fertilizer and additives (sugars and carbs). I got the equivalent of near 2000 in flower. I'd say its worth it. Like growing any plant you just have to check on it a couple times a week to ensure it's getting enough water and nutrients.
PM is VERY bad for your lungs. I chose not to take a risk, avoidable, with my health. You can’t wash it out of the flowers, too dense, you’ll never get it “clean”. Your health, your choice.
“Grow your own!”

It works for me but I also enjoy it like a hobby.
