My Dad was in the Airforce and proud of it. He married my Mom when he was 21 and she was 17. They spent 3 years in Japan and they remain married after 66 years together. He was a tool & die maker for Oldsmobile back in the 70s thru the 90s. He worked 7 days a week and still managed to do every outdoor Michigan sport known to man, remodel three homes, and raise three good kids. He and mom welcomed 6 grand kids and 6 great grand kids. He was a founding member of a group of people who created a scholarship program at his local HS. He donated hundreds of thousands of dollars and time "for the kids". He planted and maintained a 40 acre tree farm so the local kids had a place to come and see a woods and the wildlife there. He even recruited a small group of his peers that restored a local pioneer cemetery.
Dad was at a loss as to what was happening in our world today and kept repeating "I just don't understand". My Dad was a pure blood, he raised hell in his last days because the hospital "wanted to give him a Covid shot". They didn't! Dad was Trump supporter and dispite being a union steward in his working years, couldn't wait to cast his vote this coming November. My Dad was a Patriot that told the nurse he wanted an Icehouse less then 5 minutes before he went down the final time. My Dad suffered more than 20 years with Parkinson disease and this morning at 5 am he finally beat it. My Dad was an American! He was 87 years old.
I hear "Well done thy good and faithful servant" echoing in the heavenly realm. You were blessed to know such a wonderful man and you were doubly blessed to be able to call him Dad...your loss is heaven's gain...God bless your family.
Amen. And you, his son art his legacy. The traditionalists are also known as the greatest generation. We're so lucky to be their kids!
Beautiful tribute to an admirable man. We have generous, service-oriented patriots like him to thank for making America great. May the peace that surpasses understanding surround you, family, and friends as you honor his legacy and carry it forward.
Our loved ones never die as long as you remember them. Our lives are our interpretation of them. The truth is, thanks to them you know what to do. So just do it and smile as you remember.
God Bless your Dad!!
