People discovered during the freeze in Texas this week... that plumbers are now charging on average about $250 per hour to fix pipe leaks.
10 years ago, plumbers were charging about $80-$100 per hour. Then they upped their rates 2-3 years ago to $150 per hour. Now it's $250 per hour. Why?
Because young people are brainwashed into going to college, taking out huge loans and studying "French Poetry" or "Art Appreciation"... instead of becoming electricians, plumbers and welders. That's why the few remaining (and increasingly older) plumbers can charge the rates they do. There is demand... but no fresh supply of competitive labor. The "woke" generation doesn't want to get their hands dirty.
Mike Rowe does a great job of addressing this, and further to you point, the reason they don't want to get their hands dirty is because the trades or technical jobs are shamed by the "academics". Ultimately, if you want to destroy THIS nation, destroy the work ethic and the work force.
Man I'm going to have some great job security with computers. Zoomers can barely add an attachment to an email let alone explain the difference between local and cloud.
$$$ charging 300 an hour kek
Millennial here, i also work with computers, but it's great to know how to fix your pipes and things as well.
I mean, if we ever get to a situation where the entire internet just goes down permanently, well, there goes your job security.
Maybe unlikely to happen, but hard to guarantee in today's day.
