It was the full 4 howitzer salute. I believe they only fire three, and have one as a reserve.

Also, news crews tried to pass it off as Trump wanting a huge ceremony, with the full 21 gun salute. I call BS on that. The Marines are VERY specific on who they give their salutes to.

The military coming in during Trump's speech was such an unusual thing. Even my husband was dumbfounded by it, and he's pretty unflappable.
