Interesting question from Ann Vander Steel: if Kari had had the recordings for 10 mos., why release them now? Why did she "sit" on it until now? "Life insurance"?? Inquiring minds.....

Because you don’t waste ammunition needlessly- it makes sense to keep it until deploying it would bring maximum tactical advantage

I think that Lake delayed releasing until WHs (who probably have all of the recordings) had their conversation with dewitt to try to get him to flip on the 'back east' group. Offer was probably... we will release this one tape and you resign in return for us not releasing more damaging tapes which would lead to criminal charges on you.
