Second ER visit in 2 weeks, this time with my ill husband who had fallen and suffered bad cut to head. I was astounded by the incompetence in the ER. No doctors, just a nurse practitioner there this time.

My husband was sent to an ER a few weeks back. I had to call 911 bc he was having trouble breathing. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. His oxygen level was in the low 80’s and he was having trouble talking.
We weren’t sure what the real problem was for awhile bc he’s been taking new medication for afib. And it could have been a drug reaction since he started having problems within a half an hour of taking one of his new meds.
He was in the ER overnight and couldn’t get a room until 4 pm the next day. The ER was packed. Wall to wall patients.
While I was there I had to give the nurse a list of all his medications he’s already on. (He’s been on quite a few high blood pressure pills since he was 28).
The new meds were for the afib. I gave the nurse his complete list, the dosage and when he takes them. Including his new meds.
While in hospital he had to complain everyday bc they weren’t giving him the pills he needed to keep his blood pressure down. He spoke with the Cardiologist and the main ER Doctor. He even spoke with the pharmacy several times!
Also he often waited hours to get his meds. . After four days they weren’t gonna let him go home until his blood pressure went down. But they weren’t even giving him two of his blood pressure meds! He finally got an ok blood pressure and we got him back home.
The nurses were actually quite good (except they were late giving him his meds at times). It was the doctors and the pharmacy mainly who couldn’t get their act together!
