I think some colleges work to instill this belief so their students feel better about all the debt they're taking on. I had a couple coworkers that seemed to believe that answering phone calls at a freaking call center was beneath them because they had a degree.
My wife has two engineering degrees, but ceased work to raise our four children. Fast forward 25 years, and she's back working at as engineer; well, an engineering technician for 5 years, and then promoted to junior engineer. These people who graduate and think they deserve to be CEO need a dose of reality.
